Writing poetry is a wonderful way for children to experiment creatively with language outside the constraints of just ‘getting it right’. There’s a lot of freedom, fun, flair and flight of imagination involved. Writing poetry is like playing with words – and all children learn from and thrive upon play.
According to The Kennedy Center:
Poetry and puppetry are two art forms that encourage use of language. Poetry opens the door for students to play with words and apply them to different forms of poems, such as a haiku poem. Puppetry enables students to use language orally and build confidence in their speaking and communication skills. Both can help form the wings students must earn for their learning to take off.

All children aged 12 and under located anywhere in the world are welcome to enter.
If the poem is selected, it will be published on our website, YouTube and social media.
While this service is provided at no cost, if we select your child’s poem, we encourage you to become a Larrikin Puppets Patron from as little as $1/month.
How to submit your child’s poem:
Use our Contact Form to type in the poem. Be sure to include your child’s first name, their age, their city/country and the name of which puppet you’d like to have read the poem.
