Brett Hansen and his troupe of friendly and funny puppet characters provide some of the best party entertainment Brisbane kids have the opportunity to enjoy! Heaps of fun for children and parents in and around Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and everywhere in between. Larrikin Puppets can make your child’s party memorable and fun!
Birthday Party Puppet Shows for Ages 1-7:
Suitable for babies, toddlers and early Primary School aged kids (with plenty of humour for the parents to enjoy too) the puppet show is 30 minutes of age appropriate songs, games, jokes, skits and comical interaction with the audience – performed in the puppetry style of Sesame Street and The Muppets. Our most popular party bookings are 1st birthday parties and 3rd birthday parties.
This is followed by a 5 minute presentation after the show where Brett explains how all the puppets work. Then a 5-10 minute meet-and-greet with Troggg the blue monster – the star of the show. Kids (and parents too!) often like to get photos and selfies with him during this time. The puppet show, the “how the puppets work” demonstration, and the meet-and-greet and photo session all lasts up to 45 minutes in total.
Number of puppeteers: 1
Access to power: Ideal but not required. A small battery powered amp with one microphone input can be used for the 1 puppeteer show if it’s performed in a council park with no access to power.
Venues: This show can be performed in back yards, front yards, garages, lounge rooms, council parks, restaurants, halls, clubs, pubs and play centres.

Birthday Party Puppet Shows for Ages 8 and up:
Suitable for the older kids (Grade 3 upwards), this is a puppet show that requires two performers to make it just that extra bit cooler and more interactive and engaging. The puppet show is 30 minutes of songs, games, jokes, skits and comical interaction with the audience – performed in the puppetry style of Sesame Street and The Muppets. There are more props and witty skits in this show than there are in the birthday party show for babies and toddlers. We also include a segment where volunteers from the audience get to come up and learn how to operate a few of the puppets for a big finale song. We find that the older kids have more fun when they’re able to get involved and have a go rather than just watching the puppet show.
The show is followed by a 5 minute presentation after the show where Brett and Elissa explain how all the puppets work, and once again we choose volunteers from the audience to co-perform a couple of characters, much to the enjoyment of everybody in the audience. Then we do a 5-10 minute meet-and-greet with stars of the show Troggg the blue monster and friends. Kids (and parents too!) often like to get photos and selfies with the puppets during this time. The puppet show, the “how the puppets work” demonstration, and the meet-and-greet and photo session all lasts up to 45 minutes in total.

Access to power: Required. For this show we use a powered P.A. system which has two microphone inputs for the two performers. We have a 20 metre power cable which can stretch from the yard into the garage, shed or house.
Venues: This show can be performed in back yards, front yards, garages, lounge rooms, restaurants, halls, clubs, pubs and play centres, as long as there is access to power. Please note: Most council parks are not powered sites.

On the day:
Puppeteers arrive about 1 hour before the puppet show’s starting time to set up the stage, sound equipment, props and puppets. The show (as described above) is performed for 30 minutes, followed by the 5 minute “how the puppets work” demonstration and the 5-10 minute meet-and-greet and photo opportunity with Troggg. The puppeteers then pack up.
Inclusions:
- 30 minute puppet show.
- 5 minute “How the puppets work” demonstration
- 5-10 minute puppet meet-and-greet / Photo opportunity with Troggg.
- Time allowance for travel to and from the event, set-up and pack-up of the puppet stage, props, puppets and sound equipment.
- Rehearsal time prior to the event
Brett and Elissa have current blue cards, and are fully insured, professional, and punctual.
