PUPPETS, live music, local art and plenty of food will be on offer at the Chrome Street Fiesta at Salisbury next weekend.

The inaugural festival is the brainchild of a group of residents and business owners, who aim to showcase and celebrate talent in the area.

Larrikin Puppets owner Brett Hansen said he was thrilled to be able to present his show to his local community.

“It’s a puppet show that’s similar to The Muppets and Sesame Street and is bright, colourful and funny,” Hansen said.

The Moorooka resident started his puppeteering career in 2012 and now has 50 puppets, which have been designed by Hanson and built overseas.

“I’ve been puppeteering since I was about three,” Hansen said.

“I love The Muppets and so my parents bought me a couple of puppets to play with and it went from there.”

Chrome Street Fiesta organiser Tim Mullooly said he wanted to create a party for the suburb.

“We didn’t want a commercial feel,” Mullooly said.

He said the group was still looking for performers.
